OGR Stock Denton host seminar on the new data protection laws whilst raising funds for charity

News Article

With only months remaining until new data protection rules come into effect in the UK, OGR Stock Denton is offering organisations the opportunity get up to speed with the new requirements, while helping to raise funds for charity.

Our lawyers will be holding a seminar next month on the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force from 25 May 2018.

Failing to comply with the requirements of the new law, such as needing explicit consent before sending marketing communications, could result in significant penalties.

Peter Susman QC and Hannah Curtain, barristers from Henderson Chambers, will be guest speakers at the event, which runs from 5pm to 7.30pm on 22 February 2018 at our offices (2 Dollis Park, N3 1HF).

There will be a £20 booking cost for the seminar, with all proceeds going to Langdon – a charity which provides support for people with learning disabilities.

Gitta Altmann, Partner and Head of Company Commercial Law, said: “The enactment of the GDPR will have significant implications for virtually all businesses and organisations.

“Any businesses or organisations that are not prepared for the GDPR need to ensure they understand the full implications well before May, so that they have time to put new procedures in place.

“This seminar is a rare opportunity to hear from two leading barristers in the field and is set to provide an exceptional insight into the GDPR.

“Not only is this an excellent opportunity for businesses to ensure they are abreast of the key requirements of GDPR, it is also an opportunity to support the vital work of Langdon.

“I would urge any businesses or organisations that have questions about how the GDPR will affect them to book their place today.”

Anyone wishing to attend the seminar can secure their place by emailing Ali Kabani at akabani@ogrstockdenton.com or by visiting: http://langdonuk.org/ogr-stock-denton/.
