New online service for obtaining a basic DBS check in England and Wales

From 17 January 2018, the system for obtaining a basic criminal records check in England and Wales has changed. The Disclosure and Barring Service (“the DBS”) has launched a new online application for a basic disclosure certificate. As a result, individuals who require a basic disclosure check for a job in England and Wales can now get their basic disclosure check directly from the DBS rather than Disclosure Scotland, who have previously provided them on behalf of the DBS. The new system will cost £25, the same price as Disclosure Scotland.
